Of his Vietnam experience, Bill says: My name is Bill Richer and I remember the Vietnam days as if it was yesterday.  I watched every day in the news how our troops were doing. I was in high school then. Actually it was a Trade School High School.  A classmate in an upper class dropped out of school and joined the Army. He came for a visit after boot camp and put his dressed hat on my head. Shortly after he was sent to Vietnam and was killed in a helicopter. Then later on I had a cousin who joined army and he got married before going to Vietnam and as they came out of church after they were married he also put his dressed hat on my head.  He went to Vietnam and was also killed by mortar. This made me feel very sad. At his funeral my uncle made me promise not to join the Marines or the Army. He was a WWII Vet in artillery and didn’t want to see any more in family be killed there. So I promised and shortly after high school I joined Air Force. When I got out of Air Force the war was winding down and I still watched on TV on how our men were doing every night on the news. I guess I have one of those sensitive hearts and the feelings I had of pain and emotion for those fighting, it was almost as if I were there. So, in the late 90’s I decided I would make a web page for those who fought in the war. Years earlier I wrote the poem “The Restless 58,000” which fit in that page very well. I also became very religious after the war because of certain religious experiences I had which are on some of the pages I created and so I created many both patriotic and religious web pages so that it would inspire others “For God and Country!”
