.....a farewell to a fallen Marine
SPEAK SOFTLY
Speak softly, all ye who are witness
As this warrior goes to his rest
Of the courage he showed and of his valor
When his heart was put to the test
Speak softly to the father and mother
Whose eyes still can’t hold back the tears
Speak softly and bring back the memories
Of the joy that he gave them for years
Speak softly to the wife who remembers
His kiss and how his touch made her feel
Her pain, like a fires dying embers
Lingers on, and will leave scars that won’t heal
Speak softly to the sons and the daughters
Who stand silent and wish they could hear
Once more the sound of his laughter
Who feel that his presence is near
Speak softly to all those who knew him
And charge them not to forget
The sacrifice made for their freedom
And that the battle is not over yet
Speak softly of all those who have fallen
Who gave their all and their best
Who fought bravely for mans right to live unafraid
In Gods arms they surely do rest
Let all those who knew him remember well
That a warriors soul is a flame
That will light up the way for all those who fell
As they fought bravely in freedoms name
The price of freedom has never been small
Americas sons have fought well
To insure that the echo is heard by all
Of the sound of the liberty bell
Let us remember that the way that we live
Has been bought with tears blood and sweat
Paid by heroes who gave all they could give
Asking only that we don’t forget
Rest in peace Marine. Your friends miss you - your family loves you -
your country honors you and your Corps salutes you. God waits for
you.
