What’s wrong with this picture?

If you look closely at the picture above, you will note that all the Marines pictured are bowing their heads. That's because they're praying. This incident took place at a ceremony honoring the birthday of the Corps, and it has the ACLU up in arms.

"These are federal employees," says Lucius Traveler, a spokesman for the ACLU , "on federal property and on federal time.... For them to pray is clearly an establishment of religion, and we must nip this in the bud immediately."

When asked about the ACLU's charges, a Marine spokesman said (cleaned up a bit), "Screw the ACLU."

What's wrong with the picture? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Besides, Marines aren’t employees, they’re Marines!

God Bless Our Warriors!

I receive many emails similar to ACLU vs Marines on a daily basis. The military email network includes more than 25 million members, so these emails come from far and wide. The ACLU vs Marines email is false, as are so many others making the run through the military and civilian network. One of the greatest problems with these emails is that most people will not stop them because they are labeled prayer requests. For those of you have seen this chain email (and others like it) passed along the web for years, please visit the following link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/marines.asp

Snopes, the infosite many of you rely on for information verification, including validity of computer virus alerts, states the claim in this chain email against the ACLU is false! No matter what political bent you might be, facts are facts. This email is a fine example of how military people are misled and incited via chain emails. As similar chain emails come my way, I will continue posting them to debunk them. Hatemongering among political factions is wrong, dead wrong, and does nothing to improve the state of the union.

The worst thing of all about this lie of an email is that it was routed as a prayer chain for our troops.

The ACLU has accomplished many great things for citizens of our country. Sure, mistakes have been made - but who among us or our institutions has a perfect record? Tolerance is one of the principles this country was founded upon. It’s a principle we would be well-served to remember, particularly at a time when rampant and ill-founded talk of this country being transformed from a democratic republic to a socialist regime is dividing us when we most need the good ideas of everyone to solve our problems.
